Thoughtful prose and interesting images. Doesn't get much better than that.
I am an absolute evangelist for personal projects. Photographers - especially us silver-haired oldies - who have spent a lifetime with assignment photography occasionally forget that we can indeed make photos without an "client" associated.
The 'personal project' is born out of a desire to make something real, something powerful, something sublime from our own undertaking and can become some of our best work.
I have shot for well over a thousand clients in my career... from international agencies to mom-n-pop startups. Everyone came with their own challenges and solutions.
Now I shoot for the hardest client I have ever worked for... me. My expectations are too high, my demands are too difficult, my challenges too steep.
I wouldn't have it any other way. A personal project is meant for an audience of one. Me. You for yours.
And when others see the work, and are drawn to it, that is a wonderful added benefit.
