I have always believed that the world is perfect as it is, since I have little to no control over it. That doesn't mean I like it, or want it to be that way, but it is outside of me. What I do control is what I can do about it - or at least understand what I cannot do about it. Your words are exactly correct. Nearly everything we get pissed off about is stuff we cannot have any influence over at all. We can only exert influence over how we respond to what actually is.
That involves personal responsibility and rational thought. Two qualities very much out of favor in our victim-obsessed society where being a victim is a giant badge of honor.
